The "Three P.E. Brothers" of Volta School
About UsWe are the Volta School Physical Education Team (pictured left to right: Mr. Martinez, Mr. Graves, Mr. Thompson).
Mr. Ken Graves has been a teacher and a coach at Volta School for his entire 28-year career. He also coaches the Varsity Baseball and Softball teams at Roosevelt High School. He has lived his whole life on the South Side of Chicago, loves the White Sox, and could eat pizza everyday. Mr. Jake Thompson has spent all of his 4-year teaching career at Volta School. He plays for many talented 16-inch softball teams throughout the city and suburbs. He has lived his whole life on the North Side of Chicago, loves the Cubs, and is a very good cook. Mr. Raul Martinez is in his 11th year as a teacher, and his first year at Volta School. His first 10 years of teaching were in his hometown of Salamanca, Spain. He loves soccer, has worked as a fitness trainer for a professional Spanish team, and his favorite American restaurant is Wendy's. |
About Our GoalsOur Volta Physical Education program is designed to teach students the importance of an active, healthy lifestyle that promotes a lifelong commitment to wellness. We will achieve this by focusing our learning on all aspects of PE including fitness, health, skill building, team/individual sports with heavy emphasis on enjoyment, challenges, self-expression, and social interaction.

About Our SchoolVolta School is located in the heart of a very diverse, multi-ethnic Albany Park Community in Chicago. At Volta School, the Principal, Assistant Principals, staff members, Volta LSC and parents work together as a cooperative group with focuses on students and their academic growth. Volta School is committed to students´ growth and well-being.
